What is Abundant Masculinities?

Abundant Masculinities creates spaces for men and transmasculine folk to identify, heal from and take responsibility for the wounds of patriarchy while creating new and healthy masculinities alongside their peers.

The term Abundant Masculinities is born from the idea that the ways to be masculine in the world are abundant, and all masculine identities are valid. We seek to expand the ways people can express their masculinity and add to the growing conversation around what it means to be a man, which positive qualities and behaviors we want to be associated with masculinity, and which we are ready to leave behind.

We enter this work from a place of principled struggle: we are people who have both been harmed and caused harm. From this framework, we're able to hold our folks, men and transmasculine folk, from a place of empathy, understanding, nuance and care. For us, accountability and care are not mutually exclusive, in fact, they form an important interdependence that allows us to challenge one another to do better because we know we can and must.

We know that healthier, more grounded men and transmasculine folks can help:

  1. Prevent violence in our communities

  2. End cycles of trauma between parents and their children

  3. Facilitate cohesion and connection between men, transmasculine folks and the people around them
